RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Ascension Parish's religious education program is provided for students who do not attend the parish school. Classes meet on Sunday morning from 10:00-11:15 a.m. The classes begin the first Sunday after Labor Day and end the beginning of May. There is time off for the holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. The Director of Religious Education is Mrs. Marie Murphy. If you have any messages for her or have any inquiries about the program, please call the Parish Center at 410-242-2292. If you are interested in sharing your faith as a catechist, consider teaching, substituting or assisting in the classroom. Volunteers are always needed. Catechists must be practicing Catholics who regularly receive the sacraments and are faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Volunteers must be STAND certified in accordance with the Archdiocesan guidelines. Please call the parish office to obtain additional information regarding STAND certification.

YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY

Youth and Young Adult Ministry is the Church's mission of reaching into the daily lives of modern young people and showing them the presence of God. The goals of this ministry are: to bring all of its young people into the life, mission and work of the parish; to provide a place and opportunities where the young people in the parish can socialize in a safe environment; and to empower adults to act in the role of mentor to young people. For more information, please contact Fr. John Williamson at 410-242-2292, or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATIN FOR ADULTS (R.C.I.A.)

The R.C.I.A. is a process for welcoming adults into the Roman Catholic Church. R.C.I.A. is both a personal and community journey that leads to sacramental initiation into the Church at Easter. Formal instruction is provided by Fr. John Williamson and Deacon Thomas Yannuzzi and a team of parishioners on Tuesday evenings from September through Holy Week. R.C.I.A. is also appropriate for people who wish to refresh themselves or learn more about the teachings of the Catholic Church. Please call the parish office for more information.
