BIBLE STUDY / ADULT EDUCATION
An excellent opportunity to learn more about the Bible and to discover more about our faith and its history.
Class meets on Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the parish center in the fall and spring.
If interested, call Fr. John Williamson.

"WHAT EVERY CATHOLIC NEEDS TO KNOW
Fr. John explains in greater detail what we believe as Catholics. Relevant topics are suggested by the group
Monthly classes are announced in the bulletin and monthly calendar.

MARIAN DEVOTIONS
Parishioners say the Rosary weekly in October and May.
Marian Reflections based on our Blessed Mother's life are presented during the month of May.

SODALITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
A spiritual organization.
fostering devotion to Jesus and His Mother through prayer and charitable actions.
Reinstated in 1986.
The monthly meetings consist of a business /planning meeting,
Followed by a religious discussion or film.
Meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month at the Parish Center.

MEN'S CLUB
The Men's Club pursues Catholic fellowship and solidarity for men over age 21.
Additionally it raises money to help the parish.
Light food and refreshments are furnished after the meeting
Meetings are on the third Thursday of the month at
6:30 p.m. in Brewer Hall.

SENIOR OF ASCENSION PARISH (S.O.A.P.)
Provides social activities for the seniors of the parish.
Organized in 1987
Meetings usually include speakers on topics of interest to the members.
(Such as health insurance, security in the home, history, current community concerns, taxes, etc)
. At Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, and in June, S.O.A.P. has luncheons paid by the organization.
Meetings are on the third Monday of the month for a brown-bag lunch ( refreshments and desserts provided).

DAISY SCOUTS / BROWNIE SCOUTS / GIRL SCOUTS
Ascension's Girl Scouts meet at Ascension School on Monday evenings during the school year.
Girls in Kindergarten and Grade 1 are eligible to be Daisy Scouts.
Girls in Grades 2 and 3 may be Brownie Scouts.
Girls in Grades 4 and 5 may be Junior Scouts.
Girls in Grades 6-8 may be Cadette Scouts.
Girls in Grades 9 and 10 may be Senior Scouts.
Meeting times are
7:00 - 8:00 p.m. for the three younger, and
6:30 - 8:00 p.m. for Cadettes and Senior Scouts.

BLOOD DRIVE
The Men's Club sponsor an American Red Cross blood
Donor drives occur twice yearly on Sunday mornings in Brewer Hall.
The church bulletin publishes the information well in advance of the drive.

HOME VISITORS
Visits parishioners in nursing homes and distributes communion to those unable to attend Mass.
Contact
Deacon Thomas Yannuzzi if you know of someone needing visitation.

SOCIAL CONCERNS COMMITTEE
Plans and performs activities that minister to disadvantaged members of the community.
Collects donated food and baskets to families, and supports the Southwest Emergency Services (S.W.E.S.).
Planning meetings are held monthly.

OUR DAILY BREAD
Volunteers from Ascension Parish prepare and deliver casseroles.
For Our Daily Bread, a Catholic Charities soup kitchen in Baltimore City.
To participate in this ministry, contact Yvonne Loverde.

MONTHLY FOOD COLLECTION ("
LOAVES AND FISHES")
Parishioners drop off food and certain other items at the church vestibule to aid the less fortunate.
Donations are distributed in the local area (zip code 21227)--principally to the Southwest Emergency Services.
Specific foods (or toiletry items) needs are announced in the bulletin.

POOR BOX
Contributions to Ascension Church's poor boxes are used to respond to needy individuals. For those in a crisis in the parish and local area.
A good portion of funds are given to Southwest Emergency Services (S.W.E.S.).

LECTOR
The Lector is an official minister of the Church
Whose function is to proclaim God's Word during the Liturgy.
Parishioners are welcome to participate in this ministry.
A willing spirit is all that is required.
